Jess Smoot (She/They) is a theatre wunderkind from Dallas, Texas whose size belies their big visions and nonstop energy. Creating art in Chicago since the fall of 2017,  their work has been seen at a variety of places such as Potluck, The Museum of Contemporary Art’s Variety Hours, and Chicago Theatre Marathon.

 

When not performing as themself or their clown persona, Rackoone, Jess serves as the Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director at Pieus Productions, a company completely dedicated to creating a place for clowning in Chicago. They also work as  a freelance teaching artist and arts education advocate.

Jess can also do embroidery and play the guitar very badly.
